What We Are Doing

Ciao Bella Race Team will be tackling the iconic Cape2Rio Sailing Race. The Cape2Rio is run by Royal Cape Yacht Club and transits the South Atlantic Ocean from Cape Town, South Africa to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is the Southern Hemisphere’s longest intercontinental yacht race, an astonishing 5,800 kilometers beginning on the 11th of January 2020 in the waters of Table Bay and finishing three weeks later in Rio de Janeiro.

The race has been contested 14 times since 1971 and has attracted elite international sailors and teams including ICAP Leopard (London), the former Volvo Open 70 Maserati (Monaco) and Rambler (New York Yacht Club) as well as a large number of local sailors. It is a fascinating and tactical race, demanding both seamanship and weather savvy skills.
